fear factor
paul loves to be scared -- if scared is the word to describe how he feels when one of us jumps out of hiding and yells "boo!" he does not love to be scared by strangers, disneyland rides or potential car accidents.
paul also loves to scare -- if scare is what you'd call it when a boy jumps out of hiding and yells "boo!" (this is usually prefaced by him saying, "hide. hide!" in a high-pitched, breathless-sounding voice and either scurrying into a closet or pulling blankets over his head.)
he has recently gotten the meaning of the word "peek." when cam first taught it to him, he would jump into view and scream "PEEK!" at the top of his lungs. we couldn't stop laughing. now he knows to whisper as he sneaks a look out of his hiding place. it has been fascinating seeing the gears click and whirr in his head.
