syntax and diction

i've noticed that after "say please" and "say thank you" (and "no!"), quite possibly the thing i hear most frequently out of the mouths of moms is "say it nicely." god knows i've said it enough times myself.

paul: me want me want coke and prenpries!
me: say it nicely.
paul: nicely.
me: oh, we're all comedians these days...
