several months early

the other day paul saw an unfamiliar toy in the closet. it was a schoolbus that ran on a track, something that you'd find at a mall kiosk. because of several tiny parts, it was labeled 3+, which you'd think would be a clear enough sign to NOT buy such a thing for a one-year-old's christmas. (but i digress...) paul asked cam for it, but cam told him he couldn't have it until he turned three.

a day or so later, paul was puttering about when he suddenly blurted out, "happy birthday!"

me: huh?
paul: me three!
paul: me want schoolbus.

nice try.
